The Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation of the "Simulated IMF" 2024 Training Camp were Successfully Held.

On July 14, 2024, the closing ceremony and awards presentation of the "Simulated IMF" 2024 Training Camp were successfully held. The event was hosted by the School of Finance at Renmin University of China (RUC), co-organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Representative Office in China, and organized by the International Monetary Institute of RUC. Attendees included Wei Benhua, former Executive Director for China at the IMF and former Deputy Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange; Lin Jianhai, Vice President of the International Finance Forum and former Secretary of the IMF; Zhang Liqing, Chairman of the Hongru Financial Education Foundation and former Dean of the School of Finance at the Central University of Finance and Economics; Zhuang Yumin, Dean of the School of Finance at RUC; Gao Haihong, Director of the International Finance Research Center at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and Wang Fang and Ma Guangrong, Vice Deans of the School of Finance at RUC. The event was presided over by Cui Tiantian, Executive Secretary-General of the "Simulated IMF" 2024 Training Camp.

The host began by expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests and the IMF Representative Office in China for their strong support of the "Simulated IMF" 2024 Training Camp. Thanks were also extended to the instructors and teaching assistants for their hard work, and the participants were commended for their growth and outstanding performances in the final competition.

Following this, Ma Guangrong, Vice Dean of the School of Finance at Renmin University of China, announced the list of award winners.

Next, the event moved into the award presentation segment. The guests and participants engaged in friendly exchanges and took commemorative photos. After the award presentation, three participants, Wen Xun, Cao Ludan, and Anro Spykstra, spoke as student representatives. They expressed gratitude for the valuable platform provided by the Simulated IMF program, shared their experiences and growth during the training camp, and offered encouragement to their peers based on their own journeys.

During the teaching assistant team representative speeches, Zhang Bijia, Head of the Simulated IMF 2024 Teaching Assistant Team and a doctoral student from the School of Finance's 2023 cohort, summarized the training camp with the words “compact, competitive, and collaborative.” He emphasized the participants' excellent critical thinking, exploratory spirit, and the indispensable cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation that were part of the camp.

Following that, Mr. Lin Jianhai, former Secretary of the IMF, delivered an expert speech. He stressed the need for global cooperation in tackling the multiple crises the world faces today, drawing on the spirit of the 1944 Bretton Woods system. He urged the construction of a greener, more resilient, and inclusive future and extended heartfelt congratulations to the camp participants, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence and contributing to the prosperity of all humanity.

Zhuang Yumin, Dean of the School of Finance at Renmin University of China, delivered the closing remarks. She reflected on the creation and development of the Simulated IMF project, thanked the leaders and experts behind the initiative, and acknowledged the efforts of the School of Finance team. Additionally, she looked forward to the future expansion of the training camp and reiterated the School of Finance’s commitment to becoming a world-class institution, building a global network to support students and China’s financial sector on the world stage.

The ceremony concluded with the guests and participants singing "You and Me," the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony, symbolizing the sincere friendships forged through the Simulated IMF program and their best wishes for the future. They then took group photos to mark the occasion.
