On April 23rd, the Seminar for Commemoration of Professor WANG Chuanlun's 100th Anniversary was held. This commemoration was organized by the School of Finance of Renmin University of China (SFRUC) and National Institution for Finance & Development (NIFD), co-organized by the Commercial Press (CP).

LIU Wei, President of Renmin University of China, attended the commemoration and delivered an opening speech. GAO Peiyong, Vice President, Member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Secretary of University of Chinese Academy of Social Science (UCASS) CPC Committee, LI Yang, former Vice President, Member of CASS, Chairman of NIFD, CHEN Xiaowen, Editor in Chief of CP, SUN Hualing, Secretary of SFRUC CPC Committee, LU Qi, Prof. WANG Chuanlun's wife, WU Nianlu, Vice President of China International Finance Society, AN Tifu, Professor of SFRUC, WANG Guangqian, former President of the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), GUO Qingwang, Professor of SFRUC, ZHANG Xiaojing, Director of NIFD, Director of Institute of Finance & Banking of CASS, XING Li, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences (CAFS), YANG Zhiyong, Vice President of the National Academy of Economic Strategies of CASS, and the representatives of faculty members and students, more than 200 people attended in the commemoration online and offline. ZHUANG Yumin, Dean of SFRUC and LI Yang, former Vice President, Member of CASS, Chairman of NIFD presided over the commemoration.

LIU Wei said on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of Renmin University of China, it was of great significance to hold “The Seminar for Commemoration of Professor WANG Chuanlun's 100th Anniversary”. Prof. WANG Chuanlun was one of the main founders of China’s Public Finance and Finance disciplines after founding of P.R. China. His life embodies the spirit of seeking truth and pragmatism in study and research. Standing on the podium, he had a sense of calling to achieve people's satisfaction on education, he paid attention to reality and took serving the people as his responsibility. Prof. WANG Chuanlun insisted on taking Marxism as the guidance and serving the socialist reform, he studied in depth and answered the major theoretical and practical problems faced by China's public finance and financial fields in different periods, produced a large number of important academic achievements, and made great contributions to the prosperity and development of socialist economic theory and discipline system with Chinese characteristics.

Introduction to Prof. WANG Chuanlun

WANG Chuanlun (1922-2012), male, Honorary First-class Professor of Renmin University of China, recipient of the 'China Financial Discipline Lifetime Achievement Award' and special government allowance of the State Council, famous economist and educator, one of the main founders of China’s Public Finance and Finance after founding of P.R. China. He served as a member of the sixth, seventh and eighth sessions of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a member of the Economic Committee, Visiting Researcher at Wilson College, Princeton University, Executive Director of China Society for Finance and Banking, Executive Director of Society of Public Finance of China, Executive Director of China International Finance Society, Director of Foreign Economic Theory Research Association, Consultant of China International Taxation Research Institute. Prof. WANG Chuanlun, with his profound research and broad vision, creatively built a communication platform between western modern economics and Marxist economic theory, fiscal and tax theory and monetary and financial theory, western economic theory and China's specific practice. He had won the provincial and ministerial level Excellent Textbook Award, the second prize of China State-level Teaching Award, the first prize of Beijing Teaching Achievement Award, Wu Yuzhang Foundation Teaching Award, Baosteel Education Fund Award and many other national, provincial and ministerial awards.
